Before we started to create our own noir film for our coursework, we decided to get a feel for the genre by re-creating the interrogation scene from The Dark Knight. We chose this scene as it follows many conventions of the noir genre, such as low-key, contrasting lighting, shadows, concealed identity, and the presence of a detective character.
As this task was completed extremely quickly, we did not spend lots of time perfecting the fluidity of the scene in editing, and in some moments we altered the overall contrast in an attempt to make the scene less dark, but it gave the film a strange appearance. Nonetheless, this is all practice, and we can take what we have learnt from this to make sure our final film is better.
